About Us

Meet The Warrens

We’re a husband and wife team who have a passion for encouraging curiosity in childhood.

Hi! I’m Sunny; a wife, mother, and teacher with a degree in early childhood education and a passion for preserving the magic of childhood. Over my career with children, I have fallen in love with so many different methods of childhood education. The rhythms of Waldorf, the living books of Charlotte Mason, the wildness of unschooling, the interest led Montessori, and the nature base of Reggio Emilia have all inspired me to create a new school that utilizes the best of each method.

I grew up babysitting, then traveling and nannying, then an international school teacher, to mother and homeschooler.  I believe in the school of life and that one should never stop learning and being curious about the world.

Dennis is the builder of fires, treehouses and bow and arrows. He wants to help the next generation connect with nature and have a blast while doing it and will be leading our wilderness skills classes.

We strongly believe in providing a safe space for kids to learn with their peer groups while teaching them shelter building, gardening, foraging, wood whittling and all the lost skills of the past alongside language arts and math.

Mrs Courtney

Hi, I’m Courtney! I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Seasons Nature School! Teaching has always been my calling. I earned a degree in early childhood education and taught third grade for 5 years. When my oldest child was born, I chose to bring my passion for education home to my family. It has been a life-changing experience to re-witness the wonders of this world through the eyes of my children.

And so many of those wonders are found when we go outside! My family and I love to be outdoors – playing, camping, fishing, gardening. The world is our classroom! And nature provides its own education that reminds us that there is always more – more to observe, more to experience, more to learn! I’m excited to continue on my journey of learning with Seasons Nature School!

Mrs. Mel

Hi I’m Melissa Fitzgerald. I’m so pleased to be part of Seasons Nature School!

I grew up in a family run Daycare in the 80s, the glory days of outdoor time!  Small beginnings in that loving home there in Virginia led to 2 buildings, acres upon acres of free play, arts and cooking classes to 4 locations around town before I went off to college. I worked at 2 of the locations through high school and college.

Those wonder years, many babysitting/ nannying jobs and serving in children’s ministry at church is time I love dearly.  I love seeing children learn new things, experience the wonder of outside and how to interact peacefully with one another. Fast forward to having my own child in my 30s I feel in love with the Montessori Method and the Montessori school my now 13 year old daughter attended as a young child. The school’s love of the outdoors and learning instilled a kindness, gentleness and love of the outdoors in my child that has many in our community marveling. While I’ve worked for years in television production and arts management after earning a bachelors degree in Arts Mangament, I’ve longed to be more involved in alternative forms of learning I’ve read and researched so much about. This year I made the move to be home more and am so happy to partner with and support my friends The Warrens and Mrs. Courtney, to help your children grow well and explore the beautiful world around them.
